Practical Exam Tips for CBSE 2023 Class 10 Board Exams For Science Students
Horizon Academy Neet coaching in Yamuna Vihar east Delhi brought Practical Exam Tips for CBSE 2023 Class 10. Practicals play an important role in boosting students’ Marks and knowledge. Lab work is an essential component in order to make students’ learning complete, especially in Science. CBSE has included the Class 10 Science practicals in secondary classes intending to make students acquainted with the basic tools and techniques used in the laboratory.
By performing the experiments, students will understand the concept in a better way and their basics will become stronger. Students also develop a keen interest in Science along with questioning skills and scientific temperament.
With the help of the following tips, students can successfully perform the experiments listed in the class 10 Science practicals.
Science practicals also carry marks. The CBSE class 10 Science theory paper is of 80 marks and 20 marks are allocated to internal assessment. The marking scheme for internal assessment is as follows:
Internal Assessment Class 10 Science Marking Scheme
Periodic Assessment | 05 marks + 05 marks |
Practical Work | 05 marks |
Portfolio | 05 marks |
Total | 20 marks |

Science Practical Important Questions for Class 10
Chemistry:
Questions are generally asked from the basic theory portion related to practicals. So focus on the related terminology, chemical formula/composition, properties, etc.
For example, if you are studying Practical like the action of different metals on various salt solutions, then you should know the definition of displacement reaction, activity series, and its characteristics.
Biology:
General application and significance-based questions are asked from the practicals such as the preparation of temporary mounts, and the study of various asexual modes of reproduction. For practicals related to the topic of Photosynthesis, a depth study of the procedure and key roles of certain chemicals added should be remembered.
Physics:
Generally, application-based questions are asked. So focus on concepts and their applications. It is also important to remember the definitions.
Students should remember the ray diagrams, circuit diagrams as well as formulae which are generally used in practicals.
Students should have adequate knowledge of apparatus and instruments.
Key tips to remember:
- Read experiments carefully and understand the underlying concept.
- For writing answers, learn the stepwise procedures and write them in the passive voice.
- Don’t cram readings/observations. Conduct your experiment with a calm mind and write the readings/observations obtained.
- Be thorough with the diagrams and draw neat and well-labeled diagrams wherever required.
- Be confident and calm while performing experiments.
- While performing Chemistry experiments, handle the equipment and chemicals carefully as some of these chemicals are strongly reactive.
- Observe the readings carefully and don’t forget to use standard conventions and SI units while writing answers.
Backed with practice and a regular learning schedule, these tips will surely help you to perform outstandingly in your practical exams.
